renegade raceway, pop bang boom, injected nitro funny car

Pop Bang Boom was designed and built to run as an Injected Nitro Funny Car in the NHRA Heritage A/Fuel class. ET wise we have not stepped up to that level of performance yet but that's what we are working towards. The car is new construction, period correct 1976 Mustang Funny Car with modern updates and saftey features required at todays tracks. To date (January 2021) we have pulled the car to the line 22 times over the last three seasons and a number of those passes ended up being shut off runs as the car wobbled, spun and/or shook. As a new car, driver and crew working to get up to speed some of this was to be expected. Our best times so far are 5.52 at 133 MPH to the 1/8th and 8.61 at 158 MPH in the 1/4. We have kept the nitro percetage at 30% for now to try and get laps and build some consistency. We will be testing a new tunnel ram style injector this season to see if we can increase engine efficiency and improve our ETs.

Our efforts so far have been to gather as much data as we can to try and sort out this new combination. To that end nearly all of our passes have been 1/8th mile runs. That has fit in well with the races we have run so far as we attended two Funny Car Chaos races and Funny Car Frenzy and Blown Alcohol Thunder events at Renegade Raceway, our new home track. All these races have been 1/8th mile events.
